Multimedia

The Heartland Centers continue to increase the use of technology mediated training which can reach sites as close as an individual’s personal computer.  At this time, most of the technology based training is through CD ROM programs.  However, interactive web based trainings have been expanding as well as the use of live and archived webcasts.  The Heartland Centers design, produce, and implement all of the technology mediated education and training in house. We have expertise in many software programs including, but not limited to: FinalCut Pro, the Adobe CS2 Suite, the Macromedia Studio MX Suite, QuickTime Streaming Media, and Lectora to name a few. We also have expertise in video and audio recording with which to produce dynamically balanced trainings. The access to technology mediated training will continue to expand through the increased implementation of the Heartland Center Learning Management System.

The Center continues to focus on the development and distribution of CD-ROM programs as one of the primary methods of increasing access to training and education programs throughout Missouri, Kansas, Kentucky and Oklahoma.  Many of these CD-ROM based programs are being re-produced into web-based programs to promote multiple uses. The Center utilizes the Heartland Center Learning Management System to provide increased access to distance based education and training programs provided by other Public Health Training Centers, Centers for Public Health Preparedness, and the Leadership Network among others. The Institute is part of a continuum of training programs that strengthen the public health workforce through coordinated training and organizational development. The Emerging Leaders Institute builds public health practice by combining cutting edge face-to-face training with individual infrastructure improvement projects.
