PUBLIC HEALTH LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS

INTERNATIONAL
Institute
of Public Health in Ireland
This programme was launched in 2002 and following three successive programmes was very favourably evaluated in 2004. A revised 15 month programme was launched in Autumn 2005. The programme is for people who are in a position of leadership or influence over policy decisions and actions. It is open to people throughout Ireland and aims to create a balance between people from the north and south of the island and from different sectors. The programme aims to establish a network of leaders who work collaboratively and creatively to put in place the conditions for people and society to achieve optimal health and well-being. Almost 100 people have now participated in the programme. The programme focuses on personal leadership development, collaborative leadership, and peer consultation between participants on the programme and includes a series of master classes from leaders in different spheres.
