Mid America Regional Public Health Leadership Institute
MARPHLI has been developing public health leaders since 1992, and focuses on building public health infrastructure
through individual training and team project development. Public health case studies and technical assistance projects
(http://www.uic.edu/sph/phtpg/links_resources.htm) provide an experiential learning process for fellows from Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana and Michigan. The year-long, mentor based program brings together state and local public health administrators, board of health members, community agency heads and legislators in teams to learn organizational and personal leadership skills. Using the core functions and essential services as the basis for understanding the public health system, MARPHLI brings in cutting-edge national public health leaders to address the issues of the day. MAPRHLI fellows commit to lifelong learning, and through the Leadership Institute, build a network of colleagues and friendships that positively impact public health practice.
