PUBLIC  HEALTH  LEADERSHIP  DEVELOPMENT  PROGRAMS

REGIONAL

Northeast Regional Public Health Leadership Institute
The Northeast Regional Public Health Leadership Institute (NEPHLI) offers a year-long experiential program that builds and improves the leadership skills of public health practitioners. The NEPHLI Scholars are current and future leaders from state and local public health departments, universities, community-based, and allied public and private organizations. Scholars work together with an expert faculty to broaden their vision of leadership concepts which impact public health policies and foster collaboration to improve decision making within their organizations to enhance their performance of public health core functions and the Ten Essential Public Health Services. At the culmination of the NEPHLI Experience, Scholars will have developed and implemented projects applying the leadership skills as defined by Kouzes and Posner.

A 10-Year Evaluation of the NEPHLI Experience was conducted and the majority of Scholars noted that the NEPHLI Experience “strongly” influenced their leadership development.

Partner states include: Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Vermont. The Centers for Disease Control, University at Albany School of Public Health and the New York State Department of Health provide additional support. Upon completion, CEU, CME, and CHES are available.
