PUBLIC HEALTH LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS

South Central Public Health
Leadership Institute
The oldest of the regional public health institutes, this year-long program develops leadership skills through education, individual change and growth. It facilitates the application of core functions, provides shared experiences in a learning community, and translates leadership into a tool for community empowerment. Institute curriculum themes include personal leadership skills development, core functions, communications, healthy communities, crisis preparedness and response, and facilitating change. Team project emphasize application of skills to public health needs/issues in the participating states or region as a whole. Participants attend from the offices of public health in Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Mississippi.
