PUBLIC HEALTH LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS
STATEKansas Public Health Leadership
Institute The KPHLI’s mission is to provide essential, competency-based leadership training to Kansas workers in public health and allied fields in order for them to increase core public health and leadership competencies, strengthen social capital, and encourage collaboration between diverse health systems. The KPHLI's vision is an educated, collaborative, and highly competent workforce of public health leaders dedicated to improving the health of all Kansans. The program’s year-long curriculum is based upon the Institute of Medicine’s Ecological Model and includes specific modules based on competencies developed by the National Public Health Leadership Development Network. The culmination of the KPHLI cycle is the development and presentation of an applied capstone project that addresses a health need in terms of the public health core functions. Scholars are able to earn continuing education for each session and MPH course credit upon graduation. Through their work in the KPHLI, scholars develop their leadership knowledge, skills, and competencies in order to strengthen their organizations’ effectiveness and positively impact the public health system in Kansas. Scholars are drawn from all areas of the state and all types of health organizations. Co-Executive Directors: Shirley Orr, MHS, ARNP, CNAA Contact:
