Missouri Public Health Leadership Institute
The Missouri Public Health Leadership Institute (MOPHLI) is a one-year leadership program created collaboratively in
1990 by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services and the Heartland Centers at Saint Louis University,
School of Public Health. The first program cycle began in the fall of 1992 and the program met annually with alternating
cycles of new and graduating Fellows. A total of over 171 local and state administrators and managers have completed the MOPHLI program. The mission of MOPHLI is to develop and enhance the transformational leadership knowledge
and skills of MDHSS managers and public health agency administrators. The program is designed to enhance the
public health and senior services infrastructure through improving the leadership competence of local and state health
administrators/managers.
