Healthy Wisconsin Leadership
Institute
The goal of the Healthy Wisconsin Leadership
Institute is to contribute to development
of a “competent workforce,” one
of the infrastructure priorities of the state
health plan, Healthiest Wisconsin 2010.
The Institute is a collaborative effort between
the University of Wisconsin School
of Medicine and Public Health, Medical
College of Wisconsin, and numerous public
health system partners. Its mission is to
enhance the development of transformational
leaders who engage in innovative
community health improvement activities
that protect and promote the health of the
public. The target audience is very broadly
defined as “all those providing essential
public health services, regardless of
the nature of their employing agency.”
The Healthy Wisconsin Leadership Institute
offers varied and unique learning
opportunities, including a team-based
community health improvement program,
health policy training, workshops that
promote lifelong learning and leadership
development, and a mentoring program.
All programs are interrelated with educational
content based on a framework that
combines core public health and leadership
competencies.
