Partnership with KDHE has enhanced bioterrorism/preparedness and core public health workforce assessments, competence improvement, and capacity development. 

Kansas Association of Local Health Departments (KALHD) – http://www.kalhd.org/
The HC works with KALHD to identify and monitor public health workforce education and training and develop and implement competency-based education and training programs to meet assessed needs in bioterrorism/preparedness and general public health workforce development.

Similar to the partnership with MOPHA, the partnership with KSPHA has resulted in collaboration to provide “interest-raising” training sessions as well as more in depth training and education programs held in conjunction with the annual statewide conference. 

Kansas Health Foundation (KHF) – http://www.kansashealth.org/
HC has provided consultation and technical assistance to KHF to help facilitate the provision of grant funds to KU and KDHE for the support of a KS Public Health Leadership Institute that includes Crisis Leadership Development.

Kansas Association of School Nurses (KSASN)– http://www.kckps.org/directory/admin/nurses.html
HC partners with KSASN to help develop and deliver bioterrorism/emergency preparedness programs and skill enhancement activities to school nurses in KS. 

Kentucky Department of Public Health – http://chfs.ky.gov/
The goal of the partnership between KDPH and HC is to provide bioterrorism/preparedness education and training programs to the KY public health workforce in order to improve their capacity to respond to emergency situations.

Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (MDHSS) – http://www.dhss.mo.gov
The HC works with MDHSS and local health departments to conduct needs assessments at the state and local levels and assist in developing and implementing education and training programs.  The goal of the partnership between MDHSS and HC is to improve the bioterrorism/preparedness and general public health workforce competence and capacity. 

Missouri Association of Local Public Health Agencies (MOALPHA) – http://www.moalpha.org/
The HC is partnering with MOALPHA to complete the assessment of the local public health workforce in Missouri.  This partnership provides a vital link to the administrators and staff in Missouri’s local public health agencies. 

Missouri Public Health Association (MOPHA) – http://www.mopha.org/
HC collaborates with MOPHA to provide “interest-raising” training sessions as well as more in-depth training and education programs held in conjunction with the annual statewide conference. 

Missouri Institute for Community Health (MICH) – http://www.michweb.org/
The HC partnership with MICH has provided the capacity to develop a statewide coalition and workgroups/collaboratives to develop alliances among all stakeholders to improve the health of communities through strategic workforce development, including preparedness and response and local public health agency accreditation.   

Missouri Area Health Education Centers (MOAHEC) – http://www.mahec.org/
HC has collaborated with MOAHEC to work towards a more integrated approach to cross-sector workforce development, including joint grant applications and technical assistance.

Missouri Center for Safe Schools (MCSS) – http://www.umkc.edu/safe-school/
HC partners with MCSS to develop and deliver education and training programs to school nurses on bioterrorism/emergency preparedness.

HC collaborates with and provides technical assistant to the St. Louis County Department of Health in workforce development activities including bioterrorism/preparedness programs.

Emerging Leaders Institute

The Emerging Leaders Institute is sponsored by the UIC-SPH Center for Public Health Practice and the Heartland Centers at St. Louis University, School of Public Health. The Institute is part of a continuum of training programs that strengthen the public health workforce through coordinated training and organizational development. The Emerging Leaders Institute builds public health practice by combining cutting edge face-to-face training with individual infrastructure improvement projects. As the conclusion of the program, Fellows will be prepared to assume leadership positions within their agencies, and will have the skills necessary to lead collaborative initiatives that characterize public health practice.
