Education/Training

A primary goal of the Heartland Centers is to develop and implement competency-based education and training programs to meet public health workforce assessed needs.  The HC utilizes an integrated, comprehensive, competency-based approach to public health workforce development through:

  • Workforce needs assessment
  • Curriculum development
  • Post-program evaluation

Workforce from multi-sectors, multi-disciplines and multi-jurisdictions are provided improved and sustained access to programs and exercises (onsite and technology mediated formats).  The HC Learning Management System houses and tracks the online programs.  For a complete listing of the programs available, click here.  For information regarding available onsite programs or for assistance with face-to-face or technology mediated program development, implementation, and evaluation, contact Barb Schaefer at 314-977-8162 or bschaef9@slu.edu.
